UPDATE January 2010 - now ready for adoption!

Shadow is ready to go to her forever home!  Please, if you know someone who has a place in their heart for a sweetheart of a dog let me know!  You may contact me for details.  budgaluga@chartermi.net.

December 2009:
Shadow had her second Heartworm treatment a few days ago and is doing okay.  She has a bladder infection and is being treated for that.  She has not been placed in her final home yet.  We are hoping to find someone out there who has a special place in their heart for an older dog who just wants love.  She is playful but not overly active and loves her toys and loves being around people.   She is really a sweet dog and it breaks my heart every day that I can't bring her home.

Please continue to keep Shadow in your thoughts and prayers!

Meet Shadow

Shadow before treatment:

I want everyone to meet Shadow!  She is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet!  The first 8 years of her life, as far as we know, were spent without the love and care she deserves.  We know she was in a doghouse with no straw and obviously neglected in other ways, who knows what else for sure......

She was rescued about a month ago by a friend of mine who has a big place in her heart for abandoned, abused or neglected animals.......once she saw Shadow looking so emaciated, she had to do something.

Of course, as most bad pet owners, her previous owner surrendered her with no questions.  A trip to the vet revealed Shadow is heartworm positive and only 46 pounds.  She had to get some weight on her before treatment could even be considered.  She also had a terrible bladder infection.  You could feel all her bones, ribs, etc., and her hip bones were sticking out pretty prominent.

One week ago after a 7 pound weight gain, she was able to start her heartworm treatment.  She has been given another chance at life!  She is enjoying her homemade hamburger casseroles and some other yummy treats now and then!

Once she completes her heartworm treatment, she can be placed in a loving home.  I have some auctions running on eBay where 100% of the proceeds will go to fund her treatment.  It is under the Packratcrafter ID --look for the charity emblem near each listing.  Other fundraisers are also underway but any little bit helps.  Donations are being accepted at http://www.awsmm.org/

Please keep Shadow in your thoughts and prayers.
